Site Characterization and Remediation

ATOKA Inc. has identified, characterized and conducted remediation for sites for a wide variety of industries and site types, including the oil and gas industry, chemical manufacturing, metals industries, timber industries, and for general waste stream generation. 

ATOKA International, LLC's Oil Field Services Division has teamed with in-country partners to create multi-national joint venture companies that provide comprehensive services to the oil and gas industry from drilling to health and environmental impact assessments, remediation and recovery of lost hydrocarbon assets due to spills or waste.

ATOKA has teamed with MEQAT Environmental Services Group, Sebha City, Libya, to provide environmental, remediation, engineering, oily waste treatment and management and hydrocarbon recovery services in Libya.

On petroleum hydrocarbon sites we can recover lost resources and turn them into profits and then, if needed use remediation techniques for further soil and water polishing to get your site as clean as possible.

SITE CHARACTERIZATION

1.   Evaluate Client Objectives and Site Conditions, including the hydrologic, geologic and soils conditions.
2.  Conduct sampling and analysis of sites to be remediated, wastes and potential materials to be reclaimed.
3.  The vertical and lateral extent of soils and groundwater contamination can also be identified.
4.  NORM surveys may be conducted, where needed or desired.
5.  Environmental geophysics conducted, as needed, to find USTs, infrastructure, landfills, dumps, subsurface information, etc.
6.  Determine the most effective mitigation, reclamation and remediation procedures and processes for the specific site.

REMEDIATION

The goal of the remediation process is to clean up spills, leaks, pits and the effects of oil field exploration and production to return the area to its unique natural setting.  Where possible, we prefer petroleum hydrocarbon recovery as the primary remediation process, and also offer the following services, as needed, for the specific site.

ATOKA will help you determine which remediation techniques are the best fit for your site and project goals.  We work with all the available remediation techniques and develop customized programs for specific types of waste and sites.  We’ll conduct the site investigations and treatability studies to find out which methods will work best.  A variety of treatment scenarios are available for remediation projects:  Biological, Physical, Chemical, Thermal, Mechanical, Landfilling.


BIOREMEDIATION

Petroleum hydrocarbon recovery may not always be the most desirable technology to utilize.  Another remediation technique that ATOKA employs is bioremediation.  Bioremediation is used to polish recovered soil and water, if needed, or for primary remediation of contaminated media. 

After we have recovered and processed as much waste as desired, we can use bioremediation to polish recovered soil and water.  We use natural microbes when present and commercial microbes when necessary. We have our own in-house lab and conduct treatability studies to determine what “bugs” will work best for a specific site.  ATOKA provides full microbial evaluation services, remediation design, implementation and oversight.
